‘MARK’ is a pen that’s designed to be as thin as possible to act as a bookmark in a book or notebook. It also features a ruler and caliper to help you mark measurements down. It’s fully 3D printed and uses a gel ink cartridge to not bleed when you’re using copic markers. It’s also the perfect size to fit in a field notes journal for every day carry.
I had the idea for MARK while reading. I always take notes while reading so I wanted a pen that I would always have on me while reading. I initially wanted to create a pen as thin as possible. I went through a few iterations focusing on comfortability while still maintaining a thin form. One major flaw was that none of the previous designs allowed for a pen cap. Once I focused on solving that problem it opened the ability to add a straight edge and ruler. This made the concept much more functional and also provided tools that an industrial designer would want in their notebook. It then took many iterations to optimize the the fit and tolerance as well as the print orientation and support structure.
